About

I head the JEE Division at Xylem Learning, part of the PhysicsWallah group, where I own the outcomes of the JEE Main and Advanced vertical: faculty, curriculum, content, test series and results.

I studied Electrical Engineering at IIT Madras (dual degree, 2007–2012) and graduated as branch topper and medallist. I began teaching in 2011 as a teaching assistant there, and in 2013 left a campus-placement engineering role to teach mathematics full time.

What I work on

  1. I teach mathematics for JEE Main and Advanced, from regular batches to the top rank batch.
  2. I lead the mathematics olympiad track for Xylem’s top JEE batch, and earlier taught KVPY, ISI and olympiad aspirants.
  3. I built question banks and a test-design framework from a systematic study of past JEE Advanced papers.
  4. I run hands-on AI training for 100+ faculty and subject-matter experts: prompting, verification and LaTeX-first content.
  5. I build AI-assisted pipelines for question banks, solution books, slide decks and question-paper verification.
  6. I built and led the mathematics department, and now lead the whole JEE division.

AI across Xylem’s academic departments

Alongside the JEE role, I lead AI adoption across Xylem’s academic departments: training the faculty, putting AI into content and assessment workflows, and getting more from the same academic resources.

  1. Train

I train 100+ faculty and subject-matter experts in prompting, verification and LaTeX-first content production.

  2. Deploy

I put AI-assisted pipelines into question banks, solution books, slide decks and question-paper verification, with custom agent skills built to each department’s standards.

  3. Optimise

I use AI on routine academic work (content, verification, analysis) so faculty time goes into teaching and outcomes.

Turn AI possibilities into everyday academic practice: faculty capability, dependable workflows, and honest evaluation of what actually helps. AI in Education

“When I look back at my JEE preparation, I can confidently say that Iqbal Sir, whom we lovingly call MIQ, was one of the most important people in my journey.

His training is quite rigorous. In the beginning, it can honestly feel very tough, but gradually you start noticing your graph improving. That is what makes his teaching different. He focuses strongly on conceptual clarity and has a very clear understanding of what a JEE aspirant actually needs to learn and, equally importantly, what they don’t need to waste their time on. The way he presents concepts is very unique and makes us think beyond simply memorising formulas.

Another thing I really appreciate is how updated he is. He actively uses the latest tools, including AI, to create new model questions and generate questions similar to PYQs. He constantly adapts his teaching to the changing nature of JEE, while keeping the fundamentals strong. At the same time, he is very easy to communicate with, which makes it comfortable for students to approach him with doubts or difficulties.

But for me, there is another side of Iqbal Sir that I value even more than his teaching, the way he supports his students mentally. He genuinely cares about every student individually. There were times when I felt very low during my preparation, and I used to call him even at night. He would listen, talk to me, and help me get back on track. That personal support is something I will always remember and, honestly, my favourite part about him.

One small memory that perfectly describes his character is that whenever he travelled somewhere for a longer trip, he would usually bring chocolates back for his own child, and for his students too. It may sound like a small thing, but to me it shows how he sees his students. He doesn't treat us merely as students attending his class; he treats us like his own children.

Today, being a student at NIT Calicut is a very proud moment for me, and when I look back at the journey that brought me here, I’m genuinely grateful that I had Iqbal Sir as my Mathematics teacher and mentor.

Thank you, MIQ, not just for teaching me Mathematics, but for believing in me, pushing me when I needed it, and standing by me when I needed support the most.”
